Creative task (Day 2)

Learning Objective:

To understand different features of what makes a place and how that can change over time by imagining their school and surrounding area in the future

OUTCOME:

Pupils to design a poster / postcard front cover and think about how they would want to describe their area in the short term / long term future. Their designs should include key words and images etc

TASK DEPENDENCIES:

Option to link back to interview question activity – does their future vision for the school and surrounding area respond to the needs of the different people that pupils interviewed?

Extension task: this could be further developed into a persuasive writing task e.g. write a newsletter article to persuade people to attend their school and/or visit their local neighbourhood thinking about:
– What it offers today
– Important local heritage that should be recognised and celebrated
– A ‘future vision’ of the area
